The department was established in year 2001, upon
its declaration by the United Nations as The International
year for Volunteers.
The goals of the department satisfy the general
goals of makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association
which are civic development, improvement of the
quality of life, and education for the future generations.
Thus, the department's goals are:
Development and organization of voluntary action through
well-organized voluntary programs and activities that
provide capacity building and training for its volunteer
members; thus, build positive attitude and actions towards
volunteerism and willingness to serve their society without
any repay.
The
department's activities for year 2001-2002 included
the following projects: - Training
workshops. - Camps for Voluntary
Work. - Youth Programs.
Beneficiary Group
50 students from two high schools: Khadija Al-Koubra,
and Omar Bin Al-Khattab.
Goals
General Goal: is to activate the role of youth
in serving their society through the development of
their sense of volunteerism and actual participation
in local civic development.
Objectives:
Train
youth about the concept and techniques of voluntary
action.
Upgrade and develop the personality of Makassed
youth through practical experiences.
Encourage the participation of Makassed youth in
the association's activities for social development.
Encourage the idea of cooperation in social service
between Makassed youth and other philanthropic associations,
ehether national, or international.
Realise these objectives in a well organized social
setting, depending on the concept of delegation of
authorities and sharing of responsibilities between
all members.
