Makassed
Philanthropic Islamic Association in Beirut works - since its establishment in
year 1878 - on disseminating moderate Islamic ideology and concepts... and the
proven Islamic science. This is implemented based on the cooperation and
coordination with its Islamic reference and through its religious, educational,
and health centers widely spread all over the Lebanese territory... The
department for religious affairs in Makassed Association is responsible for the
supervision and distribution of duties on twenty religious scientists working
in the mosques and Koranic centers spread all over Lebanon.
I- Mosques Mosques
are distributed geographically in the following way:

II. Koranic Centers
Upon the request of religious leaders in the Mohafazats, Makassed association
established Makassed Koranic Centers in different Lebanese districts, where
students are taught the holy Koran and its memorization all over the year.
These centers are:
In the North Mohafazah - Makassed Center for
teaching and memorizing of the holy Koran - located in Al-Kalamon Area.
In Mount Lebanon Mohafazah - Makassed Center
for teaching and memorizing of the holy Koran - located in Barja village.
In the South Mohafazah - Makassed Centers for
teaching and memorizing of the holy Koran in two districts: Sidon and Sour
cities.
In the Beka'a Mohafazah - Makassed Center for
teaching and memorizing of the holy Koran in two locations also: Majdel Anjar
village, and Baalback city.
These Koranic centers - along six years since
its establishment - has graduated more than 1500 students with degrees in
reading holy Koran, and its memorization. The graduation festivals for two
consecutive years were patronage and named on behalf of: namely King Fahd Bin
Abd Al-Aziz graduation festival in 1998, and Kuwait's Prince Shiekh Jaber
Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Subah in 1999.
III. Religious Summer
Courses Makassed Religious Summer Courses Seven years ago, the
program offering religious summer courses for youth was initiated through
Makassed association, in order to teach youth Holy Koran and the ethics of
their religion Islam. More than one thousand girls and boys from the Islamic
children are taught every year in all Makassed mosques located in Beirut and
Mount Lebanon, and receive financial prizes and gifts at the end of these
courses. In addition, three years ago similar summer courses were initiated
